For homecoming last year, the cross country team put up signs of ourselves around the cross country course at our athletic center. So here I am posing in front of my sign! So clearly, I'm on the cross country team! I wasn't always on the cross country team; I was actually on the field hockey team freshman year. I'd played since middle school and was heavily devoted to field hockey. Unfortunately, I got injured during the last game of freshman year, so I switched to cross country the next fall season. I didn't anticipate it to be so hard running cross country! Initially, it was really tough to run for so long, since I was used to short sprints across the field hockey field. Over time, I grew more accustomed to long distance running, and now I'd say I highly enjoy it. Finishing a 5k is a highly rewarding experience.

Hey, I'm Lucy! I was born and raised in Connecticut, and I'm a rising junior. I'm excited to start junior year, but I can't help but wonder (and worry about) what it will entail.

I've spent a lot of time (probably more time than I should) pondering over it all. Will our fall sports season get canceled? How do they plan on running assemblies? Will we still be allowed to attend clubs? And perhaps the most important issue, what about lunch?

My school's preschool through 12, so I've always been accustomed to seeing kids of all ages walk through the courtyard. From the tiny pre-k class waddling behind their teachers to the middle schoolers frantically dashing across the courtyard to the high schoolers lightheartedly laughing as they stroll, I've seen it all.

The middle school's moving to our athletic center. The lower school's trying to stay confined to their section on main campus. The courtyard will no longer contain an amalgamation of kids from all ages, laughing and smiling in the afternoon sun; it'll be more empty and desolate.

Maybe I'm being dramatic, but all I know is things won't be the same.

On to less depressing matters, let me introduce myself properly. My favorite color is blue, specifically the blue of the sky. There's something beautiful about how expansive the sky is. Everyone looks up and looks at the same sky, no matter where they are. There's something beautiful in that.

My favorite food's probably ice cream, specifically mint chocolate ice cream. Mint chocolate chip has been my favorite ice cream flavor ever since I can remember.

Favorite movie is How to Train Your Dragon. I was first introduced to the movie at a summer camp, and I became obsessed with the franchise. I bought the movie, and I think I've watched it around 6 times. I still cry at the ending though haha :)

On to career plans: I've always wanted to be a pediatrician, but lately, I've decided that I want to explore new things before I make any decisions about my future. I know that I don't have to have everything planned out, but I think one of things that worries me the most is the uncertainty of the future. I like to make lists and plans, so I know what's ahead of me. It's comforting, because I feel more in control. Simultaneously, I can appreciate the unpredictability of life and all of its surprises. After all, life would be pretty boring if you can plan it all out.
